Originally built between 1846-1875, it was used to patrol ships sailing into Florida, New Orleans, Mobile, and Pensacola. it is now a quiet tourist attraction, where you are immersed in history, and you can explore the large fort on your own.

It takes a 70 mile catamaran ride early in the morning from Key West, Florida. If you’re prone to sea sickness, the excursion might not be for you. But the ride, the tour, and and quiet respite you get are well worth the trip.
